PROJECTS

Safe Child Thailand (SCT)
Mae Sot, Thailand ( July 2017 - February 2018)

MEP are delighted to be forging a new partnership with Safe Child Thailand this year. This is an exciting opportunity for MEP to work with an expanding and dynamic organisation whose roots are similar to those of MEP. Safe Child Thailand (SCT) are a UK charity with more than 30 years’ experience working in Thailand, safeguarding children and empowering them to build a brighter future. Like MEP, one of SCT’s founding principles is that every child has the right to an education, and so this is a very natural partnership formed with mutual understanding and agreed objectives.

The current project will work with new teachers in Migrant Learning Centres across the region of Mae Sot and Phop Phra. Trainers will travel to schools in order to provide workshops and follow-up in-class support for new teachers. The workshops will be designed specifically to address the needs of the teachers and schools, requiring a clear understanding of the context in which the teachers are working. Strong and trusting relationships with teachers is crucial to the success of such a project and MEP trainers are renowned for the time and care taken to build trust through sensitive and thoughtful approaches.
